Top 5 Pram Walks in Perth

Perth – the city of sunshine, blue sky and abundance of nature-filled beautiful places to share with our families. I think most mums will agree that even on minimal sleep and with unsettled little ones, hitting the pavement in the gorgeous outdoors will always make things feel so much better for everyone.

With spring in the air, no time is better to get outside and get moving. And, though there are so many options to choose from, there are some particularly great places that are ideal for young families who love going for walks but still need to take a pram along.

In my opinion, nothing beats a stroll along our coastline. Whether it be between Sorrento and Trigg, Burns Beach to Ocean Reef, Cottesloe Beach or the Rockingham foreshore, there are always playgrounds and cafes to add just a little something extra to a coastal walk.

However, based on the opinions of real Perth mums, here are 5 of the best pram walks in Perth to check out next time you want to grab some fresh air and movement.

And, the best thing is they are all paved with toilet stops available!

1. Lake Monger

A picturesque lake walk with a 3.5km trail for you to enjoy with your little ones. With shaded areas, a playground and resident ducks and geese, Lake Monger is a perfect place for the family to take in some fresh air.

2. Lake Gwelup

Lake Gwelup is loved by local residents and provides an abundance of flora and fauna to enjoy.

The 3.6km paved walking loop takes you around the lake, and the unsealed sub trials that are at Lake Gwelup are also fine for the whole family to explore the natural environment with a pram. Once you’ve have finished your walk, there is a little playground to be enjoyed.

3. Tomato Lake, Kewdale

Originally this lake was known as Craig’s Swamp and Smith’s Lake. When it dried out during the 1940s, local residents successfully grew tomatoes in it, so it became known as Tomato Lake.

A 1.6 kilometre trail takes you around the lake which attracts abundant birdlife and features a boardwalk across the lake.

Your furry friend is also welcome at Tomato Lake, and, with a range of play equipment for all ages, as well as picnic tables and BBQs, it’s a beautiful spot to get some exercise and time outdoors.

4. Neil Hawkins Park, Joondalup

Neil Hawkins Park is located in Joondalup, sits beside Lake Joondalup, and is part of the Yellagonga Regional Park.

With playgrounds for children of all ages and resident wildlife to watch, this is a beautiful spot for the whole family to enjoy.

5. Carine Regional Open Space

Carine Regional Open Space has a 2.4km walking loop which is perfect for some time out in the fresh air, and it is a favourite with many local residents of all ages.

With two playgrounds and lots of green open spaces, you will often see not only mums out with their prams, but also with the furry members of their families out for a walk with them.
