Top 5 Pram Walks in Whittlesea Shire, Melbourne
We’re in lockdown in Melbourne. There isn’t much else to do but get outside at least once a day and pound the pavement to get in your 10,000 steps for optimal movement.
The last thing we need is to feel sluggish and tired and start making bad food choices.
So here are 5 great pram-friendly walks from the Fit For 2 tribe in Whittlesea and the Northern Suburbs.
1. Norris Bank Parklands – Bundoora
With a massive playground, dog park, river, fully paved trail, coffee van on a weekend, toilets and easy parking – what more could you want?! If you’re looking for a longer walk, the park connects into the Ring road and Darebin creek bike trails – just remember to plan for the return journey if you decide to venture down.

2. Mill Park Reserve Walk – Mill Park
The new leisure centre in Mill Park is a Fit For 2 favourite and you can do some lovely laps around the park and reserve. Once lockdown ends, it can be very pleasant to see the baseball crowd gathering and there is always the promise of a coffee in the Leisure Centre café to help you stay awake.

3. Henderson Creek Wetlands – South Morang
For those even higher in the north, the beauty of the planned estates is a magnitude of interconnected walking tracks. While we might be more than 5km from the beach, Henderson Creek wetlands can be a lovely watery style walk where you can spot various birdlife. And, there’s coffee at the St Ivy Café…

4. Plenty Gorge Park (Behind Uni Hill) – Bundoora
The shops are closed but this great walk can be easily accessed from the Coles car park at Uni Hill and opens up on to views across some beautiful open fields that make it feel you have escaped out into the bush. An added bonus for morning and evening walkers is the high chance of spotting some mobs of kangaroos! And of course, you can grab your shopping and a coffee from the Uni Hill shops on your way back to the car…

5. Redleap Reserve (the back of the stables) – Mill Park
Fit For 2 partners are very familiar with this tree-lined loop at the back of the stables with it being the main track to do laps while mammas exercise at the cricket nets! The loop has playspaces, BBQs, toilets and a peaceful lake to walk around. Parking is easy at the stables (just go around the footy oval) and there’s even a chance for a drink at the pub!
